Nevada (US), Mar 16 (ANI): “The Green Warriors of Chandi’s Fortress”, a zero-budget film shot on recycled tapes using a handy cam about an environmental campaign of Chandigarh, will form part of international “Green Lifestyle Film Festival” in University of California-Los Angeles (USA) from March 19-21.

Made by Dr. Gaurav Chabra with one-man crew, this film claimed to save the city’s natural heritage from administration’s “insensitive” plans. “This film is a testament of how powerful a small band of people can be…”, its description says.

Founded in 2006, this Festival is a celebration of film makers who dedicate their talents, income and energy to examining what sustainability really means. It was founded with the idea that film could be used to create change for the greater good. An inner transformation can alter the course of our planet, according to its official website.

Called “a sustainable film festival”, its celebrity hosts this year include actresses Joanne Rose and Debra Wilson Skelton. Topics the films explore include: how we birth our young, how we raise children, the construction and design of our homes, illness, our movement around the Earth and how this is in reflected in how we feed ourselves, how we treat each other and the impact of our consumerist behavior on the planet. It will also launch a Vegetarian Food flights from Adelaide to Port Hedland Drive in USA. (ANI)

The 82nd Academy Awards ceremony is more than a parade of you-gotta-be-kidding evening gowns and maudlin tributes to deceased actors. It’s also a chance to see Hollywood at its most pretentious. And for that we must be thankful.
The annual mutual appreciation party where celebrities hand one another gold statues and thank their business managers and God for making miracles happen is the reason that every once in a while a worthwhile film is produced. Our moviegoing experience would be a conveyor belt of orange-fireball action flicks and cotton-candy romcoms if it weren’t for the possibility of earning that prestigious Oscar-night close-up. For that ego boost, people do what is ambitious rather than safe — risk money, take artistic chances and push creative boundaries. Don’t tell me the Oscars don’t matter.
And so, on to the picks.
Original screenplay
"The Hurt Locker" by Mark Boal; "Inglourious Basterds" by Quentin Tarantino; "The Messenger" by Alessandro Camon and Oren Moverman; "A Serious Man" by Joel and Ethan Coen; "Up" by Bob Peterson and Pete Docter.
Will win: "The Hurt Locker." History in this category suggests that voters will pick the most critically acclaimed movie. Because it’s a serious war film, this will trump Tarantino’s coocoo-bananas riff on World War II movies. Washington, Feb 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The social secretary of the White House, Desiree Rogers, has announced that she would be stepping down from her post. No official reason has been provided for the rather sudden decision. The announcement was made via a press statement released by the President of the United States, President Barack Obama, who, along with the First Lady Michelle Obama, congratulated the social secretary on the great service that she had given to the state during her tenure. Although the sudden departure is not being explained by an official reason, it is being speculated that the real answer may lie in the state dinner fiasco that took place three months back.

It was about three months ago that the infamous gatecrashing of a White House state diner occurred, when an uninvited and wannabe celebrity couple got into the party, and even spent a long time without being discovered. As the social secretary of the White House, Desiree Rogers was fully responsible for the event, bringing her under major fire concerning the security of the White House. Later on, Desiree Rogers admitted that she had not posted staff at the security checkpoints, who would have been able to identify those who were un-invited.

Ever since the incident, the competence of the social security has been a constant topic of debate. However, the officials from the White House insisted that the controversy was not a deciding factor in her resignation. The press secretary of the White House, Robert Gibbs, also said that Desiree Rogers had not been asked to resign, nor was she being terminated.
